The HOPE, Freedom From Addiction

This work is a study of Dr. Mark Laaser’s, “The Hope of L.I.F.E.” which was published in his, LIFE Recovery Guide for Men. This has been updated and rebranded as the Captives Free Men’s Workbook. His original “The Hope of L.I.F.E. '' assures those who struggle with sexual addictions that there is hope and transformation in their recovery journey.I attended my first addiction recovery group in April 2010. That meeting ended with the reading of “The Hope of L.I.F.E.”. When I first heard it, there was no special meaning to me. For a long time, “The Hope of L.I.F.E.” was nothing more than a collection of words on a page. As I continued attending the recovery group and working on my own healing, the lines began “jumping off the page”. The promise of transformation that I first began experiencing was “we will heal from the wounds of our past”.The more I worked on my recovery and healing, the more each line came to mean something special. I began to see how each part held hope and promise for me and how my life was beginning to reflect The Hope.I began “digging into” each line and writing what I learned over the years about addiction, recovery, healing, and God’s unfailing and relentless love, grace, and forgiveness. This quest resulted in the creation of this book which helps guide people to a deeper understanding of their healing journey. This book also provides an opportunity to reflect on the growth and transformation that has been made through recovery. While The Hope, Freedom from Addiction will be impactful at any stage in recovery, it will be most beneficial for people who have been experiencing healing in the recovery process.God uses recovery to heal and transform individuals, and this book is a tool to help people see the healing and transformation in their own lives.
